About Art &
Invention Gallery:
Hosting five to six shows annually, including the signature Tomato
Art Show in August and Holiday Artisan Show in December, Art &
Invention Gallery focuses on inventiveness in fine art, craft,
and original furniture. Adult and Children Workshops are held
throughout the year as an outlet for creative energy. In 2005
and 2006, the Nashville Scene voted Art & Invention Gallery
the "#2 Art Gallery" (behind The Frist Museum). The
gallery has also received accolades from the Southern Foodways
Alliance, Travel and Leisure, SPIN, and was honored in November
2006 by Southern Living as one of the top 50 shops in the Southeast.
Owners Meg and Bret MacFadyen started the Tomato Art Fest in 2004,
when they saw a need in East Nashville for a community event.
They decided that the best part of August is ripe, juicy tomatoes,
so that is what they chose as their theme. Thus, the Tomato Art
Fest was born and a motto soon followed, "The tomato- a uniter,
not a divider.bringing together fruits and vegetables."
